This is Sparta!

This is Sparta!

I’ve loved making this gorgeous little Spartacus hat this week.  The pattern comes from Etsy and I tweaked the pattern a bit as I thought it needed a few more rows to add some length and it turned out wonderfully.

I’ve also linked this up with Moogly and My Merry Messy Life’s Hookin On Hump Day, check it out!

Little Piggy Slippers

Little Piggy Slippers - free pattern

Aren’t these just the cutest slippers?  I made them for the niece of a friend of mine, but they languished in my WIP basket for a long time because I wasn’t impressed with how they were turning out.

After a not so subtle nudge from my friend (as in, “Can you bring them Friday please,”) I finished them off and am very pleased with the end result.

The pattern is from Garnstudio (Drops) and is made in Drops Paris Light and Shocking Pink, with a scrap of black for the eyes.

Stripy Beach Bag

beach bag - free pattern

I’ve just finished this one for a special order and I was desperately sad to see it go. It was definitely one of my favorite projects to date; so much so that I’ve ordered more yarn to make one for myself.

For this bag I used Drops Big Merino, which is one of my favourite yarns. Its lovely and strong, with loads of stretch. It’s the perfect hat yarn. I am perhaps a little biased towards merino, growing up on a sheep farm with a wool classer for a father. Wool is definitely in my DNA.

I found the original, free pattern here: http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/crochet-bag.html

WIP 1 of about 10…

Crochet bag (free) pattern

This is a bag that I’m working on for a friend. I’m loving the way that the colours work together. I was a bit apprehensive at first, because colour-matching is something that I really struggle with. I just seem to miss that gene…

Yarn used: Drops Big Merino in 06, 07, 09, 10, 16, 20

The original pattern can be found on Attic 24, for free!

What do you think of the colours?
